Scott Love, CPC

Scott Love, known as “Washington’s Legal Power Broker,” has been a professional career ‘Headhunter’ since 1995 and is one of the most frequently-published authorities in the search and recruitment industry. In fact, he even turned his expertise as a recruiter into a separate recruiter training company. As a result he is a popular thought leader in the executive search profession and has spoken at nearly every recruiting industry conference or trade association convention.  Over 3,500 search firms from over 25 countries have integrated his ideas and processes into their recruiting protocols by investing in his recruiter training systems, programs, and materials.

Scott has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Selling Power Magazine, and numerous major city daily newspapers and Business Journals. Scott is the author of The Recruiter’s Adventure Book and has written over 250 articles on leadership, sales, and recruiting. He has been president of two recruiting industry trade associations and is one of the few legal recruiters to hold the industry’s only certification, the Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) designation.

Scott is a 1989 graduate of The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.  While serving on active duty as a naval officer, he was third in command of a U S Navy ship. During his shore duty tour he was an organizational development consultant and leadership trainer at the world’s largest naval base.

When he is not recruiting partners for Washington law firms, Scott spends his free time with his family, playing golf, and beating his friends at poker.  He lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife, toddler daughter, and twelve year old son. In addition to his proficiency in legal recruiting, he has also memorized nearly every Barney song word for word.

Emily Shaules, Esq.

Emily graduated from the University of Wisconsin with an Honors BS degree in Sociology and Behavioral Science and Law in 1998. She then graduated with her JD from Northwestern University in 2001. Emily practiced labor and employment law for several years before making the switch to legal aid, serving the underprivileged community in downtown Chicago.

Emily retired from the practice of law in 2009 to open her own health and life coaching business. During that time, she dedicated herself to learning and utilizing the sales and marketing techniques necessary to be successful in that industry. Realizing her love for sales, Emily enjoyed great success in several sales positions before finally combining her two loves of law and sales and becoming a legal recruiter.

Emily spends her free time acting, practicing yoga and dance, spending time with friends, hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, and being actively involved with the Center for Spiritual Living. She is very grateful to have traded the harsh Midwest winters for the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.

Vision of The Attorney Search Group

1. To develop a reputation as the most trusted, respected, and effective search firm among partners and law firms in the greater Washington, DC, region.
2. To become the first search firm considered by law firms in the DC market when a partner need is realized.
3. To become the first search firm considered by partners when wanting to move their practice.

Code of Ethics of The Attorney Search Group

1. We do not present resumes of candidates to clients without the candidate’s express permission.
2. We do not recruit from firms where we have placed candidates within the past twenty-four months.
3. We do not recruit from clients who have actively engaged us in a current search or are currently interviewing our candidates.
4. All confidential information about clients and their hiring, marketing, and operational strategies are kept in confidence.

 Our Expertise and Approach

We are experts at recruiting exceptional partner-level attorneys, that’s it. Our small size and personable approach keeps us from seeming like a “lawyer mill” and makes our process more engaging and inviting. Because we are a single site boutique firm, the candidates know their information isn’t shared in a database where they might fear a breach of confidentiality. They feel safe enough with us to take a peek at your opportunity. And sometimes that small peek can result in a big move for them.

 We are in high-level sales.

Our core competency is to develop authentic relationships with prospective candidates and effectively sell them on your opportunity. We capture the attention of star partner level candidates, earn their trust, build an authentic relationship and move them forward in the process, one small step at a time.

 We are tenacious.

Tenacity. Resilience. Persistence. That matters more than anything in a recruitment consultancy. We are able to give complete coverage to our assignments without coming across as pushy or unctuous headhunters.
